Guwahati Cheerapunjee Shillong

DAY WISE ITINERARY  .  

 

Duration               :  06 Nights / 07 Days

Destination           :  Cherrapunjee (02 Nts), Shillong (02 Nts) & Guwahati (02 Nt)

 

Day 01 Arrival Guwahati Airport (GAU) / Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) - Cherrapunjee

Cherrapunjee (4690Ft / 1430 Mts, 200 Kms / 05 to 07 Hrs drive approx)

Arrive Guwahati Airport (GAU) / Guwahati Railway Station (GHY). Meet & greet and then drive to Cherrapunjee. En route you will visit the largest manmade lake of Northeast India –Umium Lake (also known as Barapani Lake), Elephant Fall & Duwan Sin Syiem (View Point). On arrival in Cherrapunjee, check in at the Hotel. Overnight at Cherrapunjee.

01.  Guests are requested to book early arrival flight.

02.  Sightseeing only possible if guest are arriving in morning.

 

Day 02 Cherrapunjee – Local Sightseeing - Cherrapunjee  

Cherrapunjee (4690Ft / 1430 Mts)

After breakfast visit – Arwah Cave / Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sisters Falls and Nohkalikai Falls. Later drive back to hotel. Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee.

 

OR

Cherrapunjee – Double Decker – Cherrapunjee (Long & Tiring Day)   

Cherrapunjee (4690 Ft / 1430 Mts)

After breakfast go for a trek to Double Decker Living Root Bridge – 3 to 4 hours walk oneway from the starting point (depending on the Fitness of the guest). The distance cover is around 4 km one-way with down and up of 1000 feet height approx. This trek goes downhill through village Sohsarat. The steps are relatively steeper in two short stretches. Half the distance is covered by steps going downhill. Then there is a jungle path going along the sides of the hill leading to the Living Root Bridge with a few steps after short stretches of sloping foot path. Moss thrives on these sandstone steps during the monsoon and makes them slippery, hence one need to be extra careful. Later trek back to the starting point and then board your vehicle to drive back to the hotel. Overnight at Cherrapunjee.

 

Notes :

1.      Rainbow waterfalls are further 01 hour walk from Double Decker Route Bridge Point. In case, guests want to cover, is based on individual choice & fitness level, they need to inform the driver accordingly.

2.      Most of the waterfalls get dried up in winter.

Day 03 Cherrapunjee – Mawlynnong – Dawki – Shillong (Long & Tiring Day)   

Mawlynnong (4906 Ft / 1496 Mts, 80 Kms / 03 to 04 Hrs drive approx oneway from Cherrapunjee)

Dawki Lake (5904 Ft / 1800 Mts, 30 Kms / 01 to 02 Hrs drive approx oneway from Mawlynnong)

Shillong (5002 Ft / 1525 Mts, 90 Kms / 03 to 04 Hrs drive approx oneway from Dawki Lake)

Wake up early and have your breakfast and drive to Mawlynnong. Today you can explore the cleanest village Mawlynnong in the world. You can take the sky walk to have a spectacular view of the Single living Root Bridge.



After lunch drive to Dawki. Dawki is the gateway to Bangladesh where major export and import transactions take place. It is a splendid 45 kms drives passing through deep gorges and ravines, which is certainly a thrilling experience. On approaching Dawki visit the Umngot River, The Umngot River is the natural boundary between Ri Pnar or Jaintia Hills with Hima Khyrim of Khasi hills over which a single span suspension bridge was constructed. Later drive to Shillong. On arrival check-in & stay overnight at Shillong.

 

Mawlynnong village, situated at about 100 Kms ahead of Shillong on the Shillong-Dawki Road, 30 kms from Pynursla, is a village of 75 households with a population of 400. An idyllic location, this village epitomizes a standard, which all other villages need to aspire to be. Dubbed the cleanest village in India by Discover India Magazine, the primary Village School till class V boasts of its no dropout record and the village of 90 % literacy. Paved walkways and beautiful flowerbed all along mark the village, with waterfalls, *a living root bridge, hilly rivulets, acacia plantation and an excellent view of the faraway plains of Bangladesh all contribute to the ambience of this village. Farming of betel nut & leaves, broomsticks and pepper along with bee rearing are the primary economic activity of this Village and with the village headman himself taking the responsibility of making visitors comfortable, a day in this village gives an insight into the life of the Khasis, the influence of the Church and its metamorphosis.

Day 04 Shillong- Excursion to Mwaphlang + Shillong local Sightseeing – Shillong

After breakfast go for a excursion to Mawphlang Sacred Forest & Elephant falls. Later proceed for the local sightseeing visit Don Bosco Museum (Sunday Closed), Ward’s Lake located at the heart of the city which is popular for its garden walks and boating, Lady Hydari Park & Cathedral of Mary. Overnight Stay at Shillong.

 

OR

 

Shillong - Excursion Laitlum Canyons- &  Krangsuri - Shillong 

Laitlum Canyons (4907 Ft / 1496 Mts, 25 Kms / 45 Minutes to 01Hrs drive from Shillong)

Krangsuri (3000 Ft / 915 Mts, 85 Kms / 03 ½ to 04 Hrs drive from Nartang)

Shillong (5002 Ft / 1525 Mts, 90 Kms / 03 to 04 Hrs drive from Krangshuri)

 

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer Laitum Canyons. Witness the breathtaking Landscape of Laitlum canyons nestled in the majestic hills of Meghalaya at a distance of 21kms from Shillong.

 

Proceed to Krangsuri Water fall (Jowai). After enjoy the beauty of falls drive back to Shillong. Check in & Overnight stay at Shillong.

Day 05 Shillong – Guwahati 

Guwahati (1148 Ft / 350 Mts, 140 Kms / 03 to 04 Hrs drive approx)

After breakfast check out and drive to Guwahati. Based on your time go for evening river cruise on direct payment. Overnight at Guwahati.

 

Optional:

Brahmaputra River Sunset Cruise / Brahmaputra River Dinner Cruise (Subjected to water level & operational condition). For rate, kindly refer to Supplement & Optional Cost Column, given below the main package cost.

 

Day 06 Guwahati - Full Day Sightseeing (Option 1) - Guwahati 

Guwahati (1148 Ft / 350 Mts)

After breakfast visit  Kamakhya Temple, Umananda Shiv Temple (Ferry Charge on direct payment) & Navegraha Temple. 

Afternoon visit Sankardev Kalakhetra & Pragjyotika Assam Emporium (Closed on Sunday)Later drive back to the hotel.

Overnight at Guwahati.

 

OR

Guwahati - Full Day Sightseeing (Option 2) - Guwahati 

Guwahati (1148 Ft / 350 Mts)

After breakfast visit Zoo cum Botanical Garden (Closed on Friday) & Sankardev Kalakhetra. After lunch proceed to Pragjyotika Assam Emporium (Closed on Sunday). Later drive back to the hotel. Overnight at Guwahati.

 

OR

Guwahati – Excursion to Sualkuchi – Guwahati   

Sualkuchi (100 Ft / 31 Mts, 35 Kms / 01 to 01 ½ Hrs drive)

After breakfast visit Kamakhya temple – (Timing 08:00 A.M till 01:00 P.M & 3:00 P.M till its gets dark).

Later drive to Sualkuchi weavers' village along with visit to Greater Adjutant Stork & Bastra Udyan.

 

Sualkuchi village: Assam produces three unique varieties of silks, the Golden Muga, the White Pat and the warm Eri. Silks grown all over the state find their way to Sualkuchi. Sualkuchi is one of the world’s largest weaving villages. The entire population here is engaged in weaving exquisite silk fabrics. A renowned center of silk production, particularly known for Muga - the golden silk of Assam, which is not, produced anywhere else in the world. It is customary for an Assamese bride to wear a traditional set in paat silk during her wedding. One can distinctly hear the rhythm of the shuttles of the looms as soon as one enters this craft village. Sualkuchi, the biggest village of Assam, situated on the north bank of the mighty Brahmaputra. Overnight at Guwahati.

1.      The completion of above sightseeing will be subjected to guest interest and time spent at the sightseeing places.  

 

Day 07 Guwahati - Guwahati Airport (GAU) / Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) for departure

Guwahati (1148 Ft / 350 Mts, 25 Kms / 01 Hrs drive approx)

After breakfast transfer to Guwahati Airport (GAU) / Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) for onwards connection.
