Day 01: Arrive Colombo

Arrive in Sri Lanka.

We welcome you to the pearl of Indian Ocean. Our representative will greet you at the Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Colombo.

On arrival check-in at the hotel. Rest of the day free for some shopping

Day 02: Colombo / Kandy

After breakfast transfer to Kandy.

Enroute to Kandy visit Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage.

On the way visit PINNAWELA ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE- Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage – set amongst the verdant hills of Kegalle is a unique orphanage, where the tiny tots weigh 60 kg or more. This is the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, the world's first and only elephant orphanage established to feed, nurse and house young elephants lost or abandoned by their mothers. Other occupants are elephants displaced from their natural environs by development projects or those found wounded. Visitors could see the baby elephants being fed milk from gigantic feeding bottles or bathed in the river which flows nearby – an unforgettable sight! Established in 1975, by the Wildlife Department and National Zoological gardens which subsequently led to a breeding programme through which more than twenty-five elephants have been born since 1984.

Day 03: Kandy

In the morning commence for the city tour of Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Kandy - The hill capital is the venue of the annual Perahera. The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere.

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - Ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess’ hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka’s most prized possession.

Royal Botanical Gardens - Peradeniya - 147 acres in extent; Started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the Kings of Gampola and Kandy. . It was laid out in 1821 by the British colonial rulers. Prior to that it was the Royal Pleasure Garden of the Kandyan Kings. It is in a beautiful setting with the longest river of Sri Lanka, Mahaveli bordering on one side. There are more than 5,000 species of trees, plants and creepers. Some rare and endemic as well as flora from the tropical world are found in the gardens. Spice Garden and Orchid House are popular with tourists.

There are 5 Palm Avenues beautifying the gardens, the earliest and tallest Palm Avenue (Royal Palm Avenue) was planted in 1905 and the Double Coconuts from the Seashells Island, with the largest seed of all plants in the world is one such avenue.

Day 04: Kandy / Nuwara Eliya

Transfer to Nuwara-Eliya en-route visit Tea Plantation & Tea Factory.

The town of Nuwara Eliya enjoys spring-like weather throughout the year.  The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. It is supposed to be one of the coolest places in the Island

A favorite re treat of the British during colonial times, the town is dotted with English country style houses and half-timbered bungalows.

In this city tour, you can visit Victoria Park. It is an attractive and well-used oasis. It is popular with birdwatchers at quieter times because of the good opportunities it gives to see various species, and also you can visit Gregory Lake, which was constructed during the period of British Governor Sir William Gregory in 1873.

Day 05: Nuwara Eliya / Bentota

After breakfast leave the greens to the blues. Enjoy the wonders of the nature. From the cool serenity of the mountains valleys and trees your journey will be towards Bentota .Now you will experience the busy golden beaches relax and enjoy.

Day 06: Bentota

Your day will be reserved for activities commencing with a boat ride in Madhu River. The Madu River is very rich in biodiversity. It passes through the wet zone of Sri L anka opening up into the large Madu Lagoon on its way to the Indian Ocean. Also, a visit to the turtle hatchery, which was established to protect the sea turtles from extinction. With the commencement of the Turtle Hatchery these eggs were protected and cared for until they were 2 to 4 years old. You can find different species of turtles such as Green Turtle, Leatherback and Olive Ridley. Despite their extinction turtles are still caught by the fishermen for fish and shells which is indeed a very lucrative market. You can then spend your day engaged in water sports activities.

Day 07: Bentota / Colombo

After breakfast leave for Colombo, approximately 82 kms, 2 hrs drive. On arrival check-in at the hotel.

Afternoon proceed for Colombo city tour.

Colombo was probably known to Roman, Arab, and Chinese traders more than 2,000 years ago. Muslims settled there in the 8th century and controlled much of the trade between Sinhalese kingdoms and the outside world. The Portuguese arrived in the 16th century and built a fort to protect their spice trade. The Dutch captured the city in the 17th century. The British made the city the capital of their crown colony of Ceylon in 1802.

Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street - the old smith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area where there is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings, the Kaymans Gate with the Belfry at the original gate to enter the Fort, the Dutch Church of Wolfendhaal dating back to 1749, Kelaniya Buddhist Temple. Also visit the BMICH (Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall), see the replica of Avukana Buddha and the Independence Square.

Day 08: Departure Colombo
